Gaps Remain In Bush Guard Service
As the back and forth over military service continues, the Bush and Kerry campaigns are engaged in an increasingly personal battle over who served and how. The continuing questions have prompted a new CBS News investigation into the first military records shakedown of this presidential campaign: the drawn-out battle for the records of President George W. Bush.

The missing military records include a bevy of forms, logs, pay stubs and evaluations from Mr. Bush's time in the Texas Air National Guard. CBS News' evaluation of all the documents released by the White House confirms that the records have several holes.

3. The gaps..........
in Kerry's records add up to two months, while Bush's gaps are over a year. "The war President" owes the American voters an explanation of those gaps. Of course the gaps in his service records match exactly the gaps between his ears.
I have little faith that Bush will release his records, and if Kerry was smart he'd release ALL of his records and challenge Bush to do the same. Throw the ball in Bush's court and watch and wait as he refuses to do so. That would be a resounding victory for Kerry on this issue and further damage the credibility of the illegal chickenhawk sitting on the White House. Kerry should get on top of this, and fast.

5. Why hasn't Kerry released ALL of his records????
He should make sure they are all out there... no matter what they say. He can then claim the "I have nothing to hide" mantra and Chimpy will look even worse than he already does on this matter.

Anyone have any idea what's in the missing months records of Kerry??

The ones he released were all so stellar I can't imagine there would be anything negative in them.

14. I think that
Kerry having a "missing 2 months" is a terrific thing - he will eventually release records that reflect service to be proud of - in the meantime, the demand for all of his records will be responded to with a demand for all of *'s records - which will reflect the true nature of *'s non-service.

ROFLMAO!

7. The Pubs never learn. For weeks they pestered Kerry for his war
records only to be dismayed when kerry finally did. OOps, Silver Star, bravery, courage, Leadership, all the things Bush is missing.\

Now, they wanna ask for more? They just don't get it do they?

9. Yes they do get it.
The point of this isn't to get mud to stick to Kerry, allthough they'd view that as a nice perk.

The POINT is to deflect attention away from Bush's AWOL record. Kerry's "missing" records, medals vs ribbons, his post service protests against the war, all of those are happening with the sole intent of keeping people from examining Bush's record.

They've spent $50 million on this project. And judging by the news being reported, it's working.

8. Time for Kerry to put Bush's AWOL status in his commercials.
Controversy in and ad campaign just doubles the effect of the the ad. There's the ad and the the news buzz around the ad. It will be a good way to stretch his advertising dollars. Come right out and accuse Bush of being drunk and AWOL.

are finally beginning to backfire. Now, lets talk about crashcart's "service" to his Country and his "other priorities" which have included war crimes, corruption, and the deliberate economic raping and pillaging of America.

11. Poor Little George.
Not even Poppy's Billion$ can buy him a witness or two to place him in Alabama during the Missing Year.

Think about it.

All these years and nobody has come forward. The veterans (and Trudeau) who have put up the thousands of dollars as a reward for anyone who can corroborate bu$h's service in the Guard hear only crickets.

The BFEE has had thirty fucking years to "fix" the paper trail, yet they chose not to. This is how much Poppy really cares about his Dim Son, innit?

18. CBS rocks!!!
I swear CBS has finally come around from the dark side and is now our best friend in the major media. I do wonder what triggered their switch to helping us take back the White House but accept their help without question. Dan Rather should retire after getting Kerry elected and get an appointment as press secretary or better.

21. This just makes my blood boil
--------------
"For its part, the Bush-Cheney campaign is unmoved, directing reporters to a statement made last Tuesday by communications director Nicolle Devenish that said, in part, "Instead of explaining his record, John Kerry has turned to political attacks on the President. John Kerry is doing exactly what he said he would never do, 'divide America over who served and how.'" Devenish is referring to a statement made by Kerry in 1992 when Bill Clinton was a candidate for the presidency."
--------------

Grrrr... uh, stupid, Kerry did explain his record. Man, they love to twist things to unrecognizable blobs of swill.

23. CBS Editorial Director wrote this!
CBS seems to be changing.

"What kind of absurd political twilight zone is it where George Bush and Dick Cheney can make John Kerry look like an unpatriotic chicken by focusing attention on his combat duty in Vietnam?

It's a doublethink world of issues-ephemera, spin, and manipulated perceptions that Bush's technicians have mastered and that we the media and we the people aid and abet: Campaign 2004, a truth odyssey.

What is the word that has more gall than gall? Nerve? Cheek, chutzpah conceit, arrogance, condescension? You name it -- the squadron of chickenhawks that steers both the campaign and government of President Bush's have pots of it. Where do these people come off impugning John Kerry's Vietnam era guts and patriotism? John McCain, Colin Powell, Tom Ridge or Chuck Hagel might have some moral standing, but not these chickenhawks.

This whole chickenhawk issue has become sort of politically incorrect, in a Republican sort of way. It's considered a rude charge. I don't buy that."

28. "a drug or alcohol induced reason?"
Trust me, there is more detail to emerge in the next few days/weeks relating to this piece ---

...Or perhaps, as journalist James C. Moore suggests in the liberal online magazine Salon, Mr. Bush thought the grounding would end his obligation to the Guard and was happy to let the matter drop. Or maybe, also a Moore speculation, there was a drug or alcohol induced reason for Mr. Bush's absence that he and his superiors wanted to avoid publicizing.

Was a neurologic exam purged from the records?
