SOLDIER DIES AFTER SEIZURE, Mosul, Iraq (CENTCOM)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE


SOLDIER DIES AFTER SEIZURE

MOSUL, Iraq- A 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) soldier died at approximately 9:30 p.m. Aug. 6 after developing a seizure while performing duties here.

The soldier was evacuated to the 21st Combat Support Hospital.

The soldier's name is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.

2. There are older guys over there humping too
Quite a few of these guys have been in their mid to upper 30's. Too old to be out with the kind of stress they are under plus the heat. They will have to start up the draft so they can get them younger I am afraid. Rest in peace.

4. I'm suspecting heatstroke as well...
But I wonder if we will ever hear the truth about the cause of yet another death.

several soldoers have died of some sort of "mystery illness" with flu-like symptoms .. i'll go see if i can dig up a link

6. some people have SEIZURES, right after they're SHOT to death

there are convulsions right after they die...ask any soldier who's been there in real battles...

7. Seems different from David Lloyd, age 44, of Jackson, TN.
He died on Aug. 5, after experiencing chest pains "while on a mission" in Kuwait.

8. Of course
there's not enough information there to make even an informed guess, but given the extremely high temperatures and the equipment the soldiers must wear, heat stroke is quite likely.

I once had mild heat stroke and that was unpleasant enough. Intense headache, vomiting, and I was down for several days. Why I've developed a fondness for winters in places like Minnesota.
