Claims military involved in Jakarta blast

There are claims this morning Indonesia's armed forces may have been involved in the explosion that took place at the Marriott Hotel in Indonesia's capital earlier this week.

A car bomb killed 10 people and injured dozens more at the luxury hotel in Jakarta.

The Indonesian Government adviser, Jawanda, has told ABC correspondent Peter Lloyd attempts to blame Muslim extremists for the latest blast may be premature.

He says such claims may in fact be covering up a campaign to undermine the President, Megawati Sukarnoputri.

Jawanda says Indonesia's naval intelligence has launched an informal investigation into the possibility.
