LONDON -- Retired Gen. Tommy Franks used to be the commander of U.S. Central Command. Now he has another fancy title.

Franks, who commanded coalition forces in Afghanistan and Iraq, is a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire after being given an honorary knighthood in London.

British Defense Secretary Geoff Hoon said the honor recognizes Franks' "exceptional and inspirational leadership" of British forces in both Afghanistan and Iraq.

Because he's an American, Franks can't call himself "Sir." But he can use the initials "KBE" after his name.
