Bank of America laying off mortgage office workers In Wichita (90 jobs)

About 90 full-time employees at Bank of America's consumer real estate fulfillment center in Wichita received layoff notices Tuesday.

Bob Vanderberry, a senior vice president at the bank, said the staff reduction was due to a downturn in mortgage refinances.

"Our volume is 45 to 50 percent of what it was a year ago," he said.

2. My Neighbor worked for Washington Mutual
until Saturday when they called her and laid her off, she worked in the mortgage dept., they didnt even have the balls to do it in person.

6. The creeping mortgage rates
will hurt the housing market in a big way, i don't know how big an impact there will be but back in the 80's and early 90's people were upside down on their mortgages.
