Senator (Feinstein) Urges Californians to Reject Recall
WASHINGTON (Reuters)

-- U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, California's senior senator, told NBC's "Meet the Press" she believed the unpopular incumbent could defeat the unprecedented effort to remove him from office.

"I think the governor has a good opportunity to defeat this recall," said Feinstein. "My view is that this recall should be defeated. It's bad for California."

But former Republican Gov. Pete Wilson, Davis's predecessor in Sacramento, said he thought the odds were "pretty slim" Davis would win.

"I think he will be recalled and I think Arnold Schwarzenegger will be elected governor," Wilson said on CBS's "Face the Nation." ---

1. Not surprizing
But good to hear her come out against the collective insanity that's overcome the Golden State.

2. This could be good
Bill Kristal predicts that Cruz will win and the net result is good. An unpopular Gov gets removed and a Hispanic is in for the next General election.

3. Sorry, she wasn't terribly convincing.

I saw her this morning, and I was somewhat disappointed. She mentioned the "dotcom bubble" bursting and subsequent falling state revenues...but, she failed to mention former California Governor Pete Wilson (R) and his role of energy de-regulation...and, the ensuing fiasco created by Ken Lay, Enron, and Cheney. :-(

BTW, it was another Democrat this morning who said, "It would help if the Dems got the same amount of news coverage as Arnold!" Indeed! Sorry, I can't recall who said it.

But, a bit off topic, I loved Dennis Kucinich's remarks to Wolf Blitzer this morning...he blasted Enron, Lay, and Cheney for their role in California's financial crisis. Also, he reiterated Bush's lying and deception regarding Iraq and WMD. When Wolf asked, "Well, aren't we better off without Saddam?" DK's response: "The end doesn't justify the means...and, we've lost 200 soldiers!"

It is refreshing to hear some truth spoken every once in a while on TV...especially cable or network news! Thank you Congressman Kucinich for your excellent and factual comments!

on edit: spelling

4. There is a Diane H Feinstein on the ballot - Independent
Sen feinstein may want to publicize the fact that it's not her.

5. Are you sure? That's not what I heard this morning. D. Feinstein
IS on the ballot...'Dan Feinstein'...a relative of Dianne's is running. (either a cousin or a nephew-I can't recall which.)

But, you are correct, this could be very confusing. Maybe THIS is the REAL reason why Dianne declined to run! She didn't want to be 'confused' with other candidates on the ballot.

I never respected your opinion anyway so I'm glad you think Davis is a goner.
