Berlusconi says worried about anti-Bush protests
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L03215429.htm

ROME, June 3 (Reuters) - Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said on Thursday he was worried about demonstrations against U.S. President George W. Bush during a visit to Rome.

"The information that we have worries us about the kind of demonstrations that could take place tomorrow," he told a news conference hours before Bush's arrival in the Italian capital.

bushlerco is going down hard and berlusconi is bushlerco's representative in Italy. Silvio has done for Italy what bushlerco is doing to America.

3. I believe the little chubster
is worried. Who wouldn't be? I'd be sweaty thinking about the huge demonstrations that they've promised the Old Uniter. I've heard that Italy needs to provide 10,000 agents to protect our darling. Meanwhile, hundreds if not thousands of US security people flew in to Italy last week to prepare.

He might be your buddy, but he ain't cheap, Silvio.

As if that wasn't bad enough, Honest George has requested an audience with the Pope, and he's granted it. (meanwhile, I've read that Pope John Paul has said that he believes BeelzeBush is actually the Anti-Christ).

Whew, talk about fireworks!!!

12. 10000 in Rome, 18000 in Paris
Quite a force just to protect one man.

Considering that Clinton was able to take a bath in the crowd with no ill effects...

Some anti-war campaigners were out on the streets on Wednesday as a military parade marked Republic Day.

One Italian protester said: "We are going to disrupt this visit because we intend to exercise our right as citizens, because this city rejected the war throughout this whole year and this city cannot do anything but to refuse this war's leader."

Rome police chief Achille Sera said he had not had any indications of the possibility of terrorist attacks targeting the visit, but there were "signs of a difficult situation regarding public order".

14. Bush Faces Italian Anger Over Iraq on Rome Visit
<snip>
While Berlusconi has been among Bush's closest allies, most Italians opposed last year's U.S.-led invasion of Iraq and there have been many calls for Rome to withdraw its some 2,700 troops.
<snip>

Some 10,000 police will take up positions in the capital to protect against the kind of violence that marred a G8 summit in Genoa in July 2001, when one protester was killed by police and hundreds were wounded. Sharpshooters will be deployed.
<snip>

About a dozen protesters gathered on Thursday evening in a central Rome square, lying on the ground pretending to be dead as one of them read the names of Iraqis killed in recent months by U.S.-led forces.

"We are not violent," said protester Manuele Massineou. "We just want to say what we think. We don't want this war."
