Bush: Iraq Pullout Would Be Disastrous

By TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer

ROME - President Bush (news - web sites), facing tough talks with U.S. allies, said Thursday it would be disastrous if they took their troops out of Iraq (news - web sites).

Pulling out, Bush said, would send the wrong signals to the Iraqi people and to terrorists. "It would dispirit those who love freedom in Iraq," he said.

Bush, standing alongside Australian Prime Minister John Howard, a strong ally on Iraq, made his comments at the White House before leaving Washington on the first leg of a three-day European trip.

Howard renewed his intention to keep Australia's 850 troops in Iraq, despite political criticism in his own country. "It is the worst time imaginable for allies to be showing any weakness in relation to the pursuit of our goals in Iraq," he said

1. that's easy for him to say
he's not over there getting shot at.

If you read the Harper's article, the year with the insurgency, it becomes obvious that any troops in Iraq that aren't Iraqi are simply sitting ducks.

The Iraqis see it as their religious duty to fight them.

Obviously Bush doesn't give a flying fuck about a single American soldier.

Only his ego.

6. Yeah, send the Twins.
Just watched the trailer for Fahrenheit 911. Loved the scene where he was asking congressmen to enlist their kids for the military.

I wonder what kind of double-think they all use to look themselves in the mirror each morning.

2. Freedom?
""It would dispirit those who love freedom in Iraq," GW Bush

What a dolt. At least 80% of Iraqis want the Occupation out! Maybe "freedom" from colonization is what they want?

5. It's on everyones mind
Should we go or should we stay?

Think about it... even the war president himself has it on his mind. For sure, the rest of the coalition is grumbling!

It shouldn't be too long now. As soon as the new Iraqi gov. starts publicaly calling for the occupation to end, it will end.

Bring those troops home!
