Brother of 'Informant' on Saddam's Sons Shot Dead

MOSUL, Iraq (Reuters) - Gunmen killed the brother of a man widely regarded as having revealed the location of Saddam Hussein's sons to U.S. troops in an attack on his car on Saturday, police said.

Saddam's sons Uday and Qusay were killed in July 2003 when soldiers stormed a villa in Mosul belonging to Nawaf al-Zeidan, who is distantly related to Saddam. Locals said Zeidan had tipped off U.S. forces that Saddam's sons were staying at his villa.

Zeidan's brother, Salaah al-Zeidan, was killed and three of his male relatives traveling in the same vehicle were wounded, including an eight-year-old boy, during the attack on Saturday.

The U.S. military confirmed it had been tipped off about the whereabouts of Uday and Qusay, and said the informant had been paid a $30 million reward and was resettled in a Western country. It never confirmed whether Zeidan was the informant.

1. Somehow I doubt he's going to enjoy that $30 MILL, for having to

look over his shoulder forever more. But, why the hell he didn't take his entire family with him?

BTW, does it not piss anyone else that we paid $30 million dollars for squealing on Saddam's evil sons? Did we get our money's worth, especially given the chaos going on now? Just wondering....

But Bush got a political uptick for that event. Too bad they weren't captured and tried in an international court of law. Perhaps they were quilty of crimes against Iraq, but who made us the hanging jury?
