Cheney, Rumsfeld on abuse trial witness list

June 4, 2004 | DENVER (AP) -- Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld are on a "catchall list'' of potential witnesses in the case of Pfc. Lynndie England, an Army reservist facing a court-martial for alleged abuse of Iraqi prisoners, her attorneys said Thursday.

England is featured in some of the photos taken at Abu Ghraib prison near Baghdad that have made the case an international scandal. Six other soldiers also face military charges in the case.


The list of potential witnesses for a hearing this month includes Cheney, Rumsfeld and 134 others.

Since any lawyer associated with the government will have to report any illegalities to the court. By going through a private lawyer, they can claim a confidential client-attorney privilege.

That includes ALL possible witnesses that could be called. I doubt they'll call Cheney. It's got something to do with having to present a list of witnesses to the opposition before trial. I'm surprised they didn't include Laura and the dog.

These of course are the same people who whined and pouted for eight years demanding testimony from every Clinton Administration official about everything from coffee parties at the White House, to old billing records from an obscure land deal in the 1980's to presidental blow jobs. But I guess torture and pissing all over international treaties is less important.
