US to give up Saddam, Iraq chief says

BAGHDAD - The United States will hand over all Iraqi detainees including Saddam Hussein to the new Iraqi government after it assumes sovereignty at the end of this month, the new prime minister said in an interview Saturday with Associated Press Television News.

"When sovereignty is transferred, we will receive all the detainees, including Saddam, and we will put them on trial," Iyad Allawi said.

He did not specify when he expected the Americans to hand over Saddam, who was arrested in December in an underground hiding place near Tikrit. Some international legal experts believe it could take between one year and 18 months to set up a new tribunal to try the former ruler.

During the interview, one of a series given to mostly Middle Eastern broadcast outlets, Allawi repeated that he expects Iraq to receive full sovereignty at the end of this month, despite the continued presence of tens of thousands of U.S. and other foreign troops to help maintain security.

1. I doubt it's gonna play well in Peoria.
America wants her justice, and she wants it now. I can't imagine the Bushies went quietly into that good night, in handing over Sadaam. In their desperate scrambling to find a way out of this war, the Bush Junta might just lose the hearts and minds of the voters.

Fascinating development!

.. since I'm sure that the Iraqis won't be very gentle with their former dictator, since they can now do all the things they want without any fear of retaliation.

Also, look for a very minimalistic trial to take place, since I doubt that the US administration is going to let Saddam's defense team bring up, just how all those nasty gasses, missiles etc. ended up in Saddams possesion.

6. Ahh... I get it... they give custody of Saddam to the Iraqis...
...who then "accidentally" let him "escape" to Syria, thereby "forcing" the US military to invade Syria to bring him "back" to justice.

It's funny, 'cause it's probably true...:tinfoilhat:

7. Full Sovereignty?
Damn, I am starting to get annoyed with that lie!!!

Full Sovereignty?
Throughout the spring, as hundreds died in the spiraling conflict, as Regime bosses applied their hardcore "anti-terrorist" tortures to innocent bystanders raked up in their occupation nets, as Regime mouthpieces prated endlessly of "liberation" and "sovereignty," Bush viceroy Paul Bremer was quietly signing a series of edicts that will give the United States effective control over the military, ministries -- and money -- of any Iraqi government, for years to come, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Bremer has placed U.S.-appointed "commissions" made up of Americans and local puppets throughout Iraqi government agencies; the ministers supposedly in charge weren't even told of the edicts. These boards "will serve multiyear terms and have significant authority to run criminal investigations, award contracts, direct troops and subpoena citizens," the Journal reports. Any new Iraqi government "will have little control over its armed forces, lack the ability to make or change laws and be unable to make major decisions within specific ministries without tacit U.S. approval, say U.S. officials."

Earlier Bremer edicts laid the Iraqi economy wide open to ruthless exploitation by Bush-approved foreign "investors"; dominance of such key sectors as banking, communications -- and energy -- is already well advanced. The latest dictates aim to ensure that this organized looting goes on, no matter what kind of makeshift "interim government" the United Nations manage to piece together. Bush's plans to build a Saddamite fortress embassy in Baghdad and 14 permanent military bases around the country are designed to provide the knee-breaking "security" for these lucrative arrangements

*This new Iraqi Govt. is a Puppet Govt. of the USA. Now reports come out that say "Iraqis approve", " Iraiqis agree" etc. when what that means is the Puppet Govt. states these things. Argh!!!
