Sheriff's Sales on Track to Set New County Record (Pittsburgh)

Pittsburgh (KDKA) Allegheny County is on track to set a new record for the number of sheriff's sales.

Sheriff's sales are held on the first Monday of each month; and this morning the Gold Room at the Allegheny County Courthouse was filled to capacity again -- with 986 properties were put up for sale.

In fact, just halfway through this year, the number of sheriff's sales has already surpassed a year's worth of sales during the early 1980s -- when the steel mills closed.

The process is the same: back taxes and costs mount up -- and homes are put up for sale.
