Survey: Bush Gets Little Credit on Jobs
WASHINGTON - The U.S. economy has gained about 1.2 million jobs in the last six months, but word hasn't trickled down to most Americans, according to voters in a survey by The Associated Press.

They're too focused on the war in Iraq and other news — and too busy trying to make ends meet — to notice the upbeat economic development. Few voters seem to be giving President Bush credit for the new jobs or other signs of recovery.

"I don't think he's created anything," said Lonnie Steele, 57, an undecided voter from East Flat Rock, N.C. "I know a number of people who are educated people, and they are working two or three minimum-wage jobs just trying to put groceries on the table and keep their families alive."

1. doesn't
the press know how many jobs have been lost since * has been residing (inappropriately)in the WH? Doesn't the press know that the employment pool is expanding and these for the most part seasonal low paying jobs do not hardly add up to a drop in a bucket? Responsible and informed coverage - is it too much to ask?

2. Please!
This is typical of the nonsense we get whenever we hear about that great recovery just around the corner: everybody but you and your friends and relatives are finding great jobs, so its your fault you're not employed.

5. I'm wondering
We know for a fact that BushCo has been cooking the books and outright lying about other things. It isn't beyond possibility that he's just plain lying about the jobs creation numbers, either.

6. Actually, It's Fairly Obvious That's Exactly What's Happening
They are overestimating the Birth/Death adjustment that predicts jobs created by new businesses. They factor in these invisible jobs into their figures and the overwhelming majority of jobs created lately are these invisible jobs.

Here's a thread on it:

21. AND....they underestimate the number of unemployed.
Every admin. does this. If you double the UE rate you're closer to the truth than if you don't.

jobs overseas will not be voting Republican.

8. jobs vs iraq
"Bush is not the first president to suffer from a disconnect between job figures and voter perceptions. His father had poor ratings on the economy and lost re-election in 1992, though an economic recovery was under way."

Dubya* seems to be doing SOMEWHAT better than his dad when it comes to the voters' perception of him on the economy, but Poppy didn't also have a disastrous situation in Iraq to deal with. So it's quite likely that what little gain he's made on the economy will be offset by Iraq and the continuing scandals (Richard Clarke, Valerie Plame, etc.)

Well, I'm about to start my first day on one of the many jobs that Bush has created -- a part-time job at Tower Records.

10. I bet it's pretty far into the negative numbers at this point...
...and what few jobs have been created have been dominated by temporaries, contractors, part-timers, and people hired overseas (outsourcing). Additionally, average wages are down from a little less than four years ago.

Not to sound sarcastic

I tried to find it, but you have to drill down, ... unless someone has something quicker.

12. First off, the 1.2 million number is a Soviet Lie
Two, whatever jobs have been created are low-paying ones to replace the high-paying ones leaving.

(a perfect Soviet Potemkin Ploy of Lies and half-Truths)

Three, even WITH the Soviet Lie, the Busheviks have still LOST almost 2 million net jobs

(and THAT number is probably quite a bit higher)

13. Additionally...
with the multi billions in government handouts going to the many *select* Corporations and Companies (Big biz or energy tops the list), the imagination would not be far stretched if they put a number of bottom-wage, steno/typing-pool jobs on; jobs that only pay oh... maybe $7- bucks an hour; thats only about $14500 a year.
A mere million will get you almost 69 of these employees (not that they'll KEEP their jobs an entire year, so make that 140 per measley mill) That's NOTHING compared to the handouts those companies get! I wouldn't put anything past any of them to make the economy LOOK like it's recovering...

...so everything will look just fine & dandy
--at least until after their Sugar Daddy wins (by whatever means) the election.

Then *Poof* WHAT Jobs??!! Back to downsizing again.

Farfetched? LOL Sure!
Well maybe... but remember these psychopaths are not beyond doing anything to get their way.

Stranger things have happened...

*Putting tinfoil hat back on now*

24. I don't think many will forgive him..
People that have been unemployed for half of his presidency most likely won't forgive him if they get a job a few months before the elections.

Batting .500 is great in baseball, but is terrible for employment.
