Bush Picks Utah Governor to Head EPA ...
Edited on Tue Aug-12-03 02:13 AM by IthinkThereforeIAM
<snip>

...AURORA, Colorado (Reuters) - President Bush on Monday picked Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt to head the Environmental Protection Agency, a nomination that immediately drew fire from a key Democrat and environmental groups.

<snip>

<snip>

"His philosophy on all these is: less regulation, no matter what the cost to public health and the environment," said Philip Clapp, president of the National Environmental Trust. "I can't think of too many governors more hostile to government regulations than Mike Leavitt."

<snip>

Doug Scott, policy director of the Campaign for America's Wilderness, was disappointed.

He said Leavitt is most recently known for "cutting back-door deals and settlements with the Interior Department that abandoned protections for 6 million acres of wilderness-quality lands in his state and placed tens of millions of acres of such lands across the West on a silver platter for development interests."

And his and shrub's friendship goes back over ten years, all the more reason to question it's legitimacy!

They think they can ram anything they want down our throats.

P.S.: copy the whole link and put it into the address bar in you browser; Reuters may still have the link on its' main page for how long?

2. Makes you wonder why Bush even bothers with the pretence.....
President Bush confirmed his key commitment to Jewish Americans today, with the appointment of Mr A. Hitler to the position of Head of Jewish Affairs..........this follows on from Bush's recent support for white farmers with the appointment of Mr R. Mugabe to Head of Agriculture.

Seriously......it utterly beggars belief that Bush is keeping these official posts but then appointing people who have a track record in direct conflict with them.

He's not even trying to hide it any more - this isn't incompetance, it's flagrant, cynical disregard for doing the right thing.

3. You can ALWAYS count on
Drinky McCokespoon to pick the very WORST person possible for ANYTHING he does. Gosh it is rather reassuring to have something in this life you can count on. (sarcasm here)

4. And all this while chimpy
flits around the country trumpeting his destruction of the environment and corporate giveaway programs. Not much rebuttal in the media to any of this either. I'm surprised this nomination wasn't announced on a Friday though, but the silence is still deafening.
