HOUSTON (Reuters) - U.S. prosecutors are expected to ask a federal grand jury to indict former Enron Corp. chairman Ken Lay within two weeks on charges related to the company's 2001 collapse, a newspaper reported on Saturday.

2. GOP Focus Groups say it will help
GOP pollster Frank Luntz and his company held focus groups on this subject (I'm not joking). They sent their results to Alex Castellanos at the RNC. The results were that people would think better of Bush if more corporate criminals - and Ken Lay was specifically mentioned - were put in jail or perp walked before the news cameras.

5. It would be interesting to know how Luntz framed the question...
... I continue to distrust polls and pollsters. PARTICULARLY Frank Luntz.

3. Yeaaaaaaaah bwoyeeeeeee!
Quick, enlarge the Republican Wing at Club Fed! We got a bunch more coming! It's going to look like a summit meeting of the Bush Administration, the RNC, and the Captains of Industry, only in orange jumpsuits, and the food isn't quite as good!

7. Not the best news. Are they rushing to trial so the chimp can pardon
before his indictment and removal from the WH? Would rather this waited till we have a Dem in the WH so Kenny Boy can go to jail and become someone's else's boy toy bundle of joy. Time he got some of what he did to all those workers and small investors.

10. Walk down memory lane: Bush and Kenny Boy,
According to the Center for Public Integrity, Enron has contributed more than $500,000 to Bush's political activities, starting with his Texas gubernatorial campaigns. As recently as Oct. 16, with a crisis atmosphere swirling around Enron, the company gave $60,000 to the Republican National Committee.

Lay at one point worked with the Bush transition team and helped screen candidates for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Bush's most prominent economic adviser, Larry Lindsey, and his point man on trade issues, Robert Zoellick, have both served as Enron advisers.

Kenny Boy was almost chosen as Bush's Treasury secretary.

16. Re: Tape of Bush and Lay at Birthday party?
Does anyone else remember a news report (not too long after Bush got in) where someone had unearthed a tape of a birthday party and both Bush and Lay were there. Bush was making a toast saying that if it hadn't been for Lay none of this (the presidency?) would have been possible.

I know I say this report - and then it just disappeared into the great blue yonder.

May have not been credible? I just wish it would reappear now.
