Report: Saudi Police Assisted Abduction
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - Al-Qaida militants disguised in police uniforms and cars provided by sympathizers in the Saudi security forces set up a fake checkpoint to snare the American engineer they later beheaded, according to an account of the operation posted on an Islamic extremist Web site Sunday.

The account of Paul M. Johnson Jr's abduction highlighted fears that some diplomats and Westerners in the kingom have expressed, that militants have infiltrated Saudi security forces, a possibility Saudi officials have denied.

In a separate article on the Web site, the leader of the al-Qaida cell behind the abduction justified the targeting of Johnson, pointing to his work on Apache attack helicopters for Lockheed Martin.

3. And Berg...
Wasn't Berg still wearing his orange prison jumpsuit when he was beheaded, afte he reportedly had been set free from US/Military/Iraqi police custody a few days/weeks prior? Perhaps the "police" holding Berg captive in Iraq weren't all police and that would explain how he wound up in the hands of terrorists so quickly after his release from Iraqi police custody.

Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious; when the lightbulb goes off, I can't resist the urge to post it.

4. Holy shit. Those bastards.
And I get razzed at work when I remind everyone that 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis, and the Saudi royals were helped out of the U.S. two days after 9/11.

Jeez, what does it take for people to wake the f*** up?

7. Anyone find it ironic that
bush and his admin and the neocons are so adamant about an Hussein/al queda link and they say anyone harboring a terrorist is as guilty as a terrorist but yet we aren't invading the country with the most links, support, and al queda members? Sometimes, I feel I live on an alternate universe called reason and the US is living on a parallel universe of madness.

10. There could be a civil war brewing in Saudi Arabia
The U.S. military is stretched pretty thin right now. There may not be a lot the U.S. could do about a power transfer in Saudi Arabia from the House of Saud, without instituting a draft. An army can only occupy so many countries at once.

12. We should have invaded them, instead of Iraq, in the first place.
Funny how so many Americans probably think this beheading happened in Iraq.
