Applied Materials posts loss
the world's biggest maker of computer-chip manufacturing equipment, reported a third quarter loss dragged down by a sizeable restructuring charge and a 25 per cent slump in sales.

Third quarter new orders were $1.05-billion (U.S.) down 41 per cent from $1.78-billion a year earlier. Still, that is 9 per cent above the $971-million target it provided in May when it said new orders would be flat from its second quarter.

1. That's bad. It confirms that semiconductor mfrs are not investing...
There was an article in Financial Times today that was looking at AppMat as a proxy to an upturn in business investment.

Looks like that went over like a fart in church.
