Clinton candid on Oprah

CHICAGO, June 22 (UPI) -- Former President Bill Clinton told a star-struck audience at the Oprah show they should judge politicians on their positions and remember they are human.

...

Oprah asked questions about the Monica Lewinsky affair, the impeachment trial, the Ken Starr investigation and the state of Clinton's marriage. Clinton was open about his mistakes and charmed the mostly female audience.
Asked what advice on men he had given his daughter, Chelsea, he said, "none."

Clinton said his year of marriage counseling was the first time he had opened up about his childhood with an abusive, alcoholic stepfather -- an experience that taught him to lead what he called "parallel lives" -- separating private feelings from public duties.

Politicians are real people "not cartoons," he said. "They should be judged on their positions."

1. They should be judged on their actions...
not their positions. Many times they are NOT the same.

4. Do you notice the possible double-entendre here? Judge them
on their positions? Is it just my dirty mind?

3. Man, this has got to be the longest ever blow job in history
years after the fact and it's still going and going and going...

Listen up people! it wasn't a blow job that rocked America...it was the abuse of power by the republicans to impeach.

Wonderful article. Glad he was candid about his sex life. Not that I ever gave a damn about his sex life...

5. Clinton
If he would have had a big scandal, illegally invaded another country without proof, had an energy scandal, a stock scandal,
or lied to the people about all of this, then yes, he would
have been subject to impeachment, but a sad case about lying
about a BJ, when the actual case was about Whitewater, and the
question about his sex life was completely irrelevent, then
that is not a subject for impeachment

7. the man served two terms as president
and all anyone asks him about is an ordinary extramarital affair?

What about his mediating the peace in N. Ireland? I've yet to hear anyone ask him about that, among many many other events.

10. What is it about the sex lives of others that so interests people?
Maybe I'm the oddball, but if I had a chance to interview him I'd ask him why he keeps propping up Bush's immoral invasion of Iraq, what he has to say about the way Nafta has devastated certain manufacturing jobs in this country, why he and the democratic congress didn't act when they could in the early 90s to enact a decent health care bill, why he continued to bomb and enforce sanctions against Iraq even though he knew thousands died as a result. I know he will say that they allowed Iraq to sell oil in the late 90s and that it finally reached pre-Gulf war levels, but the fact of the matter is that the first gulf war left Iraq in shambles and for about five years Iraq was not allowed to sell any oil -- that on top of so-called dual use prohibitions, ended up causing untold suffering to the Iraqi people. Boy do I have questions -- and they are not about Monica! Would hurt to ask him what goes on at Bilderberg either.
