Layoffs will take heavy toll in county this summer
http://www.thejournalnet.com/Main.asp?SectionID=1&SubSectionID=113&ArticleID=44463

Nearly 500 jobs will be cut from local Johnson County companies this summer because of pending shutdowns and cutbacks.

Layoffs have been ongoing at Greenwood’s Alpine Electronics Manufacturing and Franklin’s ArvinMeritor plant and Best Buy distribution center for months, but the largest groups of workers are being eliminated this summer.

Company officials say 365 will lose jobs at ArvinMeritor this summer, while 85 layoffs are expected at Alpine in late August. In addition, about 400 could be cut by late July from Best Buy.

A total of about 1,400 county workers are expected to lose jobs in 2004.

ouch! I wonder what color Indiana will be in November?

3. Lucky for them they can live with the heat, wait till winter when they
are jobless, broke and can't afford to heat their newly owned houses or pay for their mortgages. What a great American dream under Bush.

Bush makes the Great American Dream a Regime.

4. But....but...but.....
this can't be right. I'm befuddled! I coulda sworn that my news media has said that the economy is just surging, growing by leaps and bounds, creating millions of new jobs, rebounding, etc. etc. etc. How can this be?
