Sen. Levin Blames NATO Reluctance on Bush

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Republican chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee expressed frustration with NATO on Friday for not playing a bigger role in the U.S.-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The committee's top Democrat said it was just ``chickens coming home to roost'' for the Bush administration.

Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., said he'd met with NATO ambassadors, urged them to take a role in Iraq and sensed that some of their reluctance ``results from the unilateral approach the United States has taken to world challenges, minimizing the importance of coalitions.''
``To some extent the reluctance here represents chickens coming home to roost,'' Levin said.
