US and Turkish security planners hope they can ward off a long-range mortar or improvised rocket barrage on the Ankara Hilton or the Istanbul hotel hosting the US President, on the lines of the Iraqi insurgents’ blast against Baghdad’s Rashid Hotel during visits by US officials. They also fear hijacked airliners crashing into one of the hotels hosting the US president like the 9/11 attacks in New York and Washington.

The unspoken menace hanging over every scenario is provided by the unmarked 155-mm artillery shell containing sarin nerve gas that a US convoy encountered on May 15 on the road to Baghdad airport. Washington and the US military command in Iraq do not doubt, according to our military and intelligence sources, that the Baath guerrillas, the al Qaeda terrorists swarming in Fallujah and around the Sunni Triangle and the Shiite rebel Moqtada Sadr have access to Saddam’s leftover caches of sarin and mustard gas and know how to pack the toxic substances into explosive charges.

The prevailing intelligence assumption today, according to our sources, is that the terrorists will bring these banned weapons out around the date of the transition - the last week of June or early July - and use them in Iraq or outside the country.

This danger was directly addressed by Charles Duelfer, head of the US Iraqi Survey team assigned with the hunt for weapons of mass destruction, in an interview with Fox TV on Thursday, June 24. He revealed the discovery by his group of at least ten or twelve artillery shells filled with sarin and mustard, adding that they are finding new WMD evidence “almost every day.” Even if the shells had degraded over time, he stressed, they were still capable of killing dozens of people. He warned both soldiers and civilians in Iraq to carry gas masks and have access to chem-bio suits. Instructions to this effect have been issued to American troops in Iraq.

The rounds aren't marked and unless someone really knows for sure, there's no way to tell.

3. Debka has been consistently wrong

with all of their terror attack predications in the last couple of years. So far I don't think they've even gotten one right.

4. Like the prediction about Zarqawi having arrived in Iraq and

would soon organize many al-Queda attacks?

Or their coverage of the war, which was consistently days and weeks ahead of the American press?

Or their prediction list that Turkey would be hit first by al-Queda, then Spain? (Italy is next)

Thing about DEBKA is they really have three kinds info on the site. MOSSAD disinformation, accurate MOSSAD information, and continuous MOSSAD insider scoops on what is really going on between the West and the Mideast.

Those are the articles that are interesting and cannot be found anywhere else and that have the most accuracy.

You can't trust the mass media a whit and so each person must look at all information that can be found, even from Web sites, and decide for themselves what is real and what is not.

6. I read Debka just to see how the other side thinks

but please post one link to a terrorist attack that they have called ahead of time in the last two years.

Any country that was a member of the coalition of the willing, knew they would be targets for terrorists attacks. How about all the bio, chem, nuclear attacks that they have been predicting in the US, that so far haven't happened?

President Bush has promised a decision in early October. US field commanders fear the six-week delay will exact a heavy toll on security in Iraq. They predict -

A. The guerrilla war will intensify and the infiltrations of Al Qaeda and other anti-American elements further build up.

B. Strategic parts of Iraq will fall under the control of the Islamist terror group as it ranks are beefed up by unimpeded infiltrations.

C. Tehran will intervene on the side of the Sunni Muslim campaign against the Americans by sponsoring more terrorist attacks like the bombings of the Jordanian embassy and UN HQ in Baghdad. This intervention may draw Iraqi Shiites into the conflict whereas at present they view it as a “purely a Sunni war”.
