A British inquiry into the suspected suicide of a scientist at the centre of a political storm heard a tape recording which appeared to back claims that Prime Minister Tony Blair government exaggerated the threat of Iraqi weapons

It looks like Campbell will be stepping down. Now, is he only the fall guy for Blair, or will Blair go soon after? Interesting.

3. This makes sense
It all makes sense. Doesn't this parallel Colin Powell's ridiculous demonstration before the UN. The plan was to invade Iraq at any price and against better judgment. Obviously trumped up lies to accomplish the 'plan'. Bush should be in the hotseat along with Blair.

4. Don't get your hopes up
Thanks to an extraordinarily self-interested performance by Susan Watts, Campbell and Blair have been thrown a lifeline and the BBC is once again being scapegoated, despite the fact that it is becoming more obvious all the time that the government did manipulate the intelligence to make war more credible.

The Guardian's report is mild in comparison with the vitriol being poured on the BBC and Gilligan by the Murdoch newspapers (Lies, Lies, Lies, according to their headlines).
