MSNBC gives Jesse Ventura weekly show
Aug. 14, 2003 | MINNEAPOLIS (AP) --

MSNBC has dropped plans for a weeknight show starring Jesse Ventura, saying Thursday the former Minnesota governor will instead be host of a once-a-week program on Saturdays.

The network still hasn't announced a start date or a time slot for Ventura's program.

MSNBC announced it had signed the former professional wrestler for a topical talk show last winter, saying it would be on the air in March. But there were a series of delays as concepts were tested off-air, leading to questions about whether the show would ever appear.

1. So He's Taking the WIENER-"Savage" Slot?
And they've been prepping him, lo, these many months and have only been able to squeeze this much out of him? Guess he won't be subbing for Tweety the way BARNICLE does. When Tweety was out with malaria, BARNICLE said he was cracking under the strain, but then who can believe what BARNICLE says.

3. That much?
As a Minnesotian I must admit I am saddened that they give him an entire show a week. Please, put a fork in him, he's well past done. 'Course, with Pawlenty around it nearly makes one long for the days when we looked forward to his gaffes in diplomacy as opposed to Pawlenty's gaps in governance.

5. So MSNBC is getting into the pro-wrestling business?
I thought reality shows were trumping sports entertainment these days, but hey, those MSNBC execs are really hip guys and I'm sure they know just what to do. Right?
