Huffington blasts Schwarzenegger as Bush Republican
LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Seeking to defuse the campaign of Republican rival Arnold Schwarzenegger, California gubernatorial hopeful Arianna Huffington on Thursday blasted the movie star as a "good friend of the Bush administration" beholden to special interests.

"Arnold Schwarzenegger is a Bush Republican through and through," said the best-selling author, who is running as an independent in the October 7 special election to recall Democratic Gov. Gray Davis.

Huffington then ran through a litany of questions she wants the GOP front-runner to answer, focusing on what she described as ties to Enron chief Ken Lay and various Republicans.

The name Enron resonates in California because the failed energy giant -- which collapsed amid reports of shady accounting -- was accused of taking advantage of the state's energy crisis in 2001 to make money.

1. I saw her on CNN before her appearance was cut short.
She blasted Arnold and Bu$hco! But, she was abruptly silenced when the Q and A started! :-(

I hope Californians can remember the energy crisis and the role Ken Lay / Enron played.

Too bad, Arianna seems to be the *ONLY* Democrat reminding folks of this history lesson. Davis and Bustamante seem to have forgotten it entirely! I haven't heard a peep out of either one on the subject!

:dem:

2. she's not a Democrat
and not running as a Democrat

I agree that the explanation of Enron should take center stage in the consideration of the recall and the replacement.

I realized my faux pas after I posted...but, I didn't edit. ;-)
But, sometimes I see things that way, "the Dems vs. the Republicans". I know there are others fighting this war, too!

Thanks for the "edit"...just goes to show that you can't get away with anything around here! :D

3. There are *dozens* of media outlets
carrying the Schultz/Arnold story and I only saw two on this press conference. There were a couple on her answering the LA Times front page tax story about her this morning but little mention of her critical remarks.

6. As I recall, CNN mentioned (later in the day) her press conference
...and, how she was critical of Enron, etc...but, how she was immediately "confronted" with "tax questions". End of soundbyte.

(I remember her saying, "These were deductions and NOT loopholes...there's a difference!)

Geez. It's going to be a rough couple of months until October 7, isn't it?

5. Cut off?
Odd, especially considering that CNN had time to cover, in it's entirety, Judge Roy Moore's 15-20 minute psycho press conference where he claimed belief in invisible sky gods gives him the right to wipe his ass with the Constitution.

7. You should have seen what KCBS did to her today
I kid you not!

As she was talking, the KCBS reporter repeatedly slammed her over her tax returns, repeatedly saying she paid little or no tax. They tore her to pieces, yet they are silent about Arnold!

The Arnold bias they have, I just shake my head and pray that George Soros will come to our resuce!

8. Enron didn't "take advantage" of the California energy crisis. . .
in cahoots with Dynegy & Duke et al., they caused the California energy rip-off.

Conservative renaissance man flips Huffington the bird live on CNN

Ever heard of Ben Stein? You've probably read his stuff or seen him on TV over the years. He's a conservative who in 1973 and '74 was a speechwriter and lawyer for Richard Nixon and then Gerald Ford. (An online bio assures us that he didn't pen the line, "I am not a crook.") His father, Herbert Stein, served as Chairman of Nixon's Council of Economic Advisors.

Ben Stein has been a columnist and editorial writer for The Wall Street Journal and has written for many other publications. He's an actor who has played teachers in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and on the television show "The Wonder Years." He's been in commercials and is the author of more than a dozen books. Currently, he hosts the Comedy Central game show, "Win Ben Stein's Money."

On Friday, January 11, Stein made television history. He flipped Arianna Huffington the bird -- live on CNN's "TalkBack Live: America Speaks Out."
