Pro-gay Scout troop loses charter

A Boy Scout troop in Sebastopol, Calif., has lost its charter in a battle over gay rights. The Boy Scouts of America pulled the charter because the troop refused to drop an antidiscrimination statement that runs counter to the BSA national policy barring gay members and troop leaders.

Bev Buswell, adviser to the 16-member troop known as Venture Crew 488, said her application to have the charter renewed was denied because it included a statement pledging that the troop would not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, or sexual orientation.

It seems that the law of the land for employers ain't good enough for the boy scouts; they get to make up their own rules. Never knew discrimination was one of their basic tenets-need to change the motto now.

2. THERE's a lesson for the kids...

Can you imagine the looks on these kids' faces, when they were told that they can't be Boy Scouts because they don't think it's right to discriminate? Kids don't care who or what you are...it's dipshit grownups who teach them to hate. Kudos to Bev for having the courage, those kids in her charge were very fortunate indeed. Screw the Boy Scouts.
