Louisiana GOP seeks input from Top White House strategist Karl Rove

In the run-up to this fall's statewide elections, Louisiana Republicans turned to top White House strategist Karl Rove for advice - and a little help raising money. -

Admirers and foes alike say longtime Bush ally Rove wears many hats, on the one hand shaping key Republican political strategies like holding next year's convention near Ground Zero in New York, and on the other decisively pushing administration policies like steel tariffs and tax cuts.

His appearance in Louisiana at the "Red, White and Roux" dinner at a downtown hotel is a measure of Bollinger's importance to Bush and the party. Rove "wanted to come to Louisiana to honor the Bollinger family, who have been very supportive of the President," state GOP chairwoman Pat Brister said.

Saturday, Republicans will get strategy lessons from Reed, former national director of the Christian Coalition and former chairman of the Georgia Republican Party. -

He doesn't have a prayer. The Dem atty general richard ieyoub appears to be the front runner with huge name recognition.

6. I'm acquainted with Richard Ieyoub

He was one of my law partners 30 years ago for about 18 months before he was elected local DA and then ran for AG. He's definitely pro-choice, but I'm sure he's trying not to be too open about it because of the fundie banshees that would descend upon him like locusts. He's got ex-girlfriend skeletons out the kazoo, but then that won't matter in Louisiana. Governor Edwards lived with his girlfriend in the governor's mansion and barely an eyebrow was raised.

Very ho hum race.....no ads to speak of yet. I think name recognition will do the trick, because there is no major crisis in state government that's getting any air play anyway.
