Baghdad, August 15

Several US soldiers were wounded on Friday when American convoys came under three separate attacks west and north of Baghdad, the US army and witnesses said.

In the first incident, a convoy came under attack on a highway between the flashpoint towns of Ramadi and Fallujah, an AFP correspondent reported.

One witness said two US soldiers appeared to have been wounded in the assault, but there were no details about the nature of the attack at the town of Khaldiyah, 75 kilometres west of the Iraqi capital.

In the second incident, three mines exploded as a convoy drove in the al-Falahat region to the west of Fallujah, and one vehicle caught fire, a witness said.

2. The third one
"In a separate incident north of the capital, MacDonald said that two pilots were injured when their helicopter made a "hard landing" at a base north of Tikrit. The pilots were in a stable condition and were due to be flown to Germany for treatment later on Friday."
