Glenda Hood late to pay taxes

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/state/9181320.htmFlorida Secretary of State Glenda Hood was more than three months late with her property tax payment for 2003, a mistake her spokeswoman blamed on a mortgage lender.
Hood's husband, Charles Hood, paid $4,117.27, including interest and fees, on Friday -- hours after The Orlando Sentinel called the secretary's Tallahassee office and inquired about the unpaid bill.
''I believe it was a mix-up by the mortgage company,'' Hood's spokeswoman, Jenny Nash, told the newspaper Friday. A call placed Saturday by The Associated Press and seeking further comment was not returned.
Property records show that Hood and her husband owed $3,598.94 on their home, a four-bedroom colonial with a view of Lake Lancaster. The home has a market value of nearly $400,000, records show.
Property-tax notices are sent out Nov. 1, and a reminder is mailed in February.
Well, at least the repugs are consistent in their intransigence.
