Malaysia Says Don't Cook, Wash in Toilets
Officials in a southern Malaysian state will soon enforce a new law that forbids people to wash clothes, cook or light a fire in public toilets, a news report said Wednesday.

The law will allow fines of up to 1,000 ringgit (US $263) for anyone deemed to have abused restroom facilities, said Low Boon Hong, a government official in Johor state, 300 miles south of Kuala Lumpur.

Offenses under the law include failing to flush, vandalism, spitting and littering as well as more irregular behavior in toilets such as bathing, cooking, washing clothes and lighting fires, Low was quoted as saying by the Bernama national news agency.

1. personally I never cook OR wash in the toilet
personal preference I guess.

Malysia is one of the most repressed countries on earth. EVERYTHING is regulated, legislated, monitored and controlled there. Kind of like the US in Bush's second term.........

2. How sad
I would guess that a person who cooks and washes themselves in a public restroom does so in Malaysia because they do not have access to drinkable running water the way most of us do. This is an example of s story designed by the corporate media to keep us feeling snide and superior to other cultures. It gives no details of the causes and is is an example of suffering being used as amusement.

3. It really is
And globalization isn't going to work in the long run because there isn't enough resources to consume at the rate Americans consume them anyway. And there's people who live like that here in the US anyway, but it's their own fault.
