Drudge: GOVERNOR TAX: ARNOLD TELLS ADVISERS HE WILL NOT RULE OUT HIGHER RA
http://www.drudgereport.com/as2.htm

Movie tough guy Arnold Schwarzenegger has confided to advisers that he will not rule out raising taxes in California if he is elected governor, top sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

The tax issue was raised last week during a meeting between Schwarzenegger and his senior campaign staff.

MORE

"Look, Arnold will not, cannot say, 'Read my lips, no new taxes,'" a well-placed source explained from Los Angeles. "Our first priority will be to get the state back in to top fiscal condition, and everyone knows it takes revenue to achieve this."

Schwarzenegger top economic adviser Warren Buffett told the WALL STREET JOURNAL this weekend that taxes in California are too low.

2. Gee, but if Davis were to propose...
...the raising of taxes to remedy the fiscal situation brought on by Bush and his energy crony friends and family, I'm sure the WSJ and other bushorgans wouldn't hesitate in calling him a pinko commie. Where's the "fairness and balance"?

3. Prediction
Either Simon or McClintock will drop out and throw his support to the other guy. Conservatives will rally around one candidate. This can only help Bustamante who should just keep his mouth shut about taxes.

6. The neo-cons are trying to do Ahnold in
why else would they "leak" something like this to Drudge? I smell dissent in the GOP ranks. Smells a lot like rotten eggs. .... Oh, it's not dissent, it's just the GOP.

7. This Is Where He Raids CALPERS
It's very simple. Revenue is way down because of the downturn in technology--say goodbye to all of those $100K programming jobs in Silicon Valley. Expenditures are up also because of the downturn in technology--say hello to UE benefits and medical care to the newly unemployed. Hence, you get budget deficits.

Now, there's CALPERS just sitting with tons of money, ripe for the picking.
