US admits imprisoning adolescents in Iraq
They finally come to admit it.

BERLIN, July 26 (Xinhuanet) -- The US army admits for the first time to having detained adolescents in its prisons in Iraq, according to a German press report.

The TV magazine "Report Mainz," to be broadcast Monday evening on the ARD network, quoted Lieutenant Colonel Barry Johnson, a spokesman for the US troops in Iraq, as saying that they still imprisoned 58 Iraqis in the age of from 14 and 17.

The Iraqi adolescents are held in the prisons of Abu Ghraib and"Camp Bucca" and the length of their average imprisonment is half a year, Johnson said.

Johnson denied that those adolescents were tortured and promised that US authorities would look into accusation of mishandling if it arose.

6. the spokesman mentioned "one case under investigation"
But only off-the camera.

It was a very short piece this time; self-praise, about the show getting the most foreign requests ever, being a large part of it.

12. It will surface after the Dem Convention
Edited on Mon Jul-26-04 08:29 PM by Disturbed
Seymore Hersh wil publish an article about this soon. All concerned are working hard to keep this hidden. The Prison Torture issue will emerge whether the Repugs and Dems want it to or not. So far the Govt. the complicit Mas Media, Military, DOD, Pentagon, In-Justice Dept. And Congress are keeping a tight lid on this. The majoirty of Americans have been duped into thinking that the situation was only a few bad apples that have been identified and are being tried and will be punished; case closed. A mass Cover Up is in force by both parties because it bodes ill for Amerika.

14. STORY GOES FAR DEEPER...
I've got a full translation of the earlier "Report Mainz," -- there are quotes from U.S. officers that are really, really damning...but I gotta get some sleep. I'll post the new story/story link on Tuesday (probably by 10 EST) -- but you can keep abreast at http://rawstory.com

EXCLUSIVE STORY JUST BREAKING….PAGES AND PAGES OF DETAILS BECOMING AVAILABLE… FULL STORY LIKELY TUESDAY

The US army admitted Monday for the first time to having detained adolescents in its prisons in Iraq, according to a German press report.

<snip>

Lieutenant Colonel Joe Yoswa, a spokesman for the Defense Department confirmed that the U.S. military is holding 58 juveniles. None of them are female, he said.

In a Arkansas Indymedia report, he confirmed that the US Military does imprison children in sweeps made by patrols in Iraq. He confirmed that whole families are frequently arrested, dragged from their homes in the middle of the night. The patrols decide on the spot who gets taken away. After that the families are taken before a “committee” who then decides who to release and who to imprison. The highest ranking officer on the “committee” is a Colonel.

<snip>

On the earlier program, they quoted U.S. Sergeant Samuel Provance about the torture of a 16-year-old.

“He was full of fear, very alone. He had the thinnest little arms that I have ever seen. His whole body shook. His wrists were so thin that we could not put handcuffs on him. As soon as I saw him for the first time and led him to the interrogation, I felt sorry for him. The interrogation specialists doused him with water and put him in a truck. Then they drove with him throughout the night, and at that time it was very, very cold. Then they smeared him with mud and showed him to his likewise imprisoned father. With him they had tried out other interrogation methods. But they had not succeeded in making him talk. The interrogation specialists told me that after the father had seen his son in that condition, it broke his heart. He wept and promised to tell them what they wanted to know.”

19. I not only feel bad for these kids, I feel bad for the soldiers
They are ordered to do this stuff to people. How dehumanizing for both. These soldiers are going to come back missing a little piece of their souls because they were ordered to torture kids. It's such a misuse of our military.

The "video" button leads to the RM file. The original English can be heard under the German voice-over - at least part of it.

21. There are no journalists. The media is the enemy.
How come this isn't major news in the U.S.? Why haven't we seen the pictures of anal rape?

Pictures carry so much more punch that facts just written down. But the press obeys Karl Rovesputin.

The BFEE, pervert CIA interrogators/torturers (please don't call them civilian contractors), and Special Force torturers (yeah, they're special alright) have brought eternal shame to all of us.

Rape of women is as much a crime as rape of boys, of course, but, still, for middle America the latter is totally beyond the pale. If we can get the pictures out Bush is toast.
