ABC WNT(re: the BLACKOUT) First Energy of Ohio and ties to W&Co.
Just on ABC WNT (Sorry mods no link yet )

-Union officials have accused the company of skimping on maintenance, specifically on power lines.

-First Energy was sued by their stock holders just last week of cooking the books and not reporting to them accurately (we will see how the investigative report on ABC puts it).

-The former CEO was on W's "energy transition team" between the election and inauguration.

Here's the whammy

-First Energy hosted a political fundraiser that VP Dick Cheney spoke at which raised $600,000 for W's re-election campaign.

IF thisgets locked I will start another thread on it when there is a link.

4. not a great surprise
last week, when the company name first surfaced, I did a google news search and immediately kicked up stuff about the stockholders' lawsuit and some other not very flattering coverage.

But, you know, the lights are on again. Don't you think it's time to get over it and start looking forward??? </sarcasm>

16. ABC has been impressing me of late
Edited on Mon Aug-18-03 07:02 PM by knowledgeispower
Of course, this is in comparison to the other news networks, which completely suck. So I guess it is a bit like saying ABC is the best of the bad, but in today's media that will have to pass as a compliment.

Anyway, I am about to start another thread regarding ABC's plans for 9/11 this year. Here is an excerpt from an article from MSN Entertainment:

ABC said on Monday that all of its regularly scheduled news programs that week will examine the question of whether or not Americans are safer than before Sept. 11, 2001.

The network will assess the level of damage done to Osama bin Laden's terrorist network, whether the money used to prevent and respond to terrorist attacks was well-spent and the balance between civil liberties and domestic security.

Now assuming they do a realistic assessment, I expect these news reports to be pretty damaging to Bush Co.
