Bush Campaign Reaching Out to Bloggers
(ha, Bush is now into the spamming business!)

By Mike Allen
Tuesday, August 19, 2003; Page A03

President Bush's campaign will unveil a Web site today that allows proprietors of online journals -- Blogs or Web logs -- to "get the latest campaign headlines and inside scoop posted instantly to your site through a live news feed from GeorgeWBush.com!"

Bush's campaign is leaving nothing to chance as his devotees spread his message. The automatic feeds are offered in horizontal and vertical versions.

Clearly cognizant of the Web frenzy over Democrat Howard Dean, Bush's aides held a conference call to preview the site, which replaces a bare-bones one that has raised $1.3 million from 6,000 donors since the campaign launch May 16.

Campaign manager Ken Mehlman said the site's purpose is "sharing the president's positions and tying them to grass-roots activities so that everyone who wants to, has something to do." The site allows a user to type in a Zip code and find local and national radio talk shows. A letter can be automatically e-mailed to newspapers, and all the supporter has to do is paste in pre-scripted text such as, "President Bush should be commended for his strong leadership on the economy."

4. Notice that...
...as always, the "communication" is one way...

Just tools to groupthink and astroturf. That is NOT what the "blogverse" is about. That is what Madison marketing is about. I've got an ASS400 ThickNet interface cable I'd like to show Bush where he can "plug it" in...

8. What a load of garbage!
I can't believe the crap rhetoric on that site. All the rah rah BS makes me sick.
And the automatic letter to the editor creation options speak volumes about the honesty and integrity of the man.

Make sure to email them so they know how you feel about Bush and his gang.

Don't give them any ideas on making the site better by pointing out the absurdities though!

11. It is impossible for the Republican Party to run a decentralized campaign
Edited on Tue Aug-19-03 03:31 PM by w4rma
They don't believe in democracy, they believe in public relations.

Note, I just visited his campaign site and, IMHO, it is basically doing the same things they were doing before this media blast, but labeling it with some new PR words.

13. What do you guys think?
Should I include that feed at http://news.infobeing.net? I do my best to remain unbiased in terms of the feeds we serve...but perhaps this one goes to far.

his groupies. Also think his site is a good resource to media outlets. Love that he gives me the editors' email addresses to all media in any area I am interested in.

If you don't watch what the other side is doing, you will be dead in the water.

edit: good site by the way chadm, got it bookmarked.
