Victims From 1st Gulf War Seek to Make Companies Pay for Chemical Contamin

NEW YORK (AP) - Blaming corporations for fueling former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein's chemical weapons program, victims of the first Gulf War filed a lawsuit Tuesday seeking compensation for illnesses affecting more than 100,000 soldiers.

"Anyone with eyes and ears knew Saddam was killing people with poison gas in the 1980s," lawyer Gary B. Pitts said outside federal court. "These companies have to be held accountable or they'll do this same thing in the future with some other tyrant."

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for more than 100,000 soldiers who it says suffered severe injuries and staggering economic losses after they were exposed to chemicals when coalition forces blew up Iraqi ammunition dumps.

Lawyers said they hoped to force chemical corporations from France, Germany, Switzerland and the United States to reject future requests for business from tyrants around the globe.

1. Seeking compensation from Chemical Co's

is an excellent idea. Unfortunately these companies
have a hoard of trained and experienced lawyers who
win most of the lawsuits against them. Still I
am glad these soldiers are going to try to get
justice. These chemical manufacturers have our
bodies loaded with untested chemicals and they are
getting away with murder all the time. Bill Moyers
did a show on these companies and had a blood test
himself that proved he has well over a hundred
chemicals in his blood that should not be there.
We all do......it is really scary!

2. I wish they would win

massive lawsuits from these chemical companies and, equally importantly, make people in this country aware of what corporations are doing to our soldiers for the sake of profit.

Americans need to know who armed Saddam, for instance, and need to ask who armed Osama, and need to ask who corporations and black ops are arming now, and ask themselves if this is good policy for the citizens of this country.
