ninemsn Pty LtdAustralian defence contracts worth more than $21 million have been awarded to a US company linked to Vice-President Dick Cheney, it was reported.
The Australian Financial Review said a search of the Commonwealth Gazette found Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR), a subsidiary of US oil giant Halliburton, won 207 Australian Defence Department contracts between March 2000 and July this year.
That included 90 contracts on the past six months, the paper said.
It said this was despite a Pentagon audit last December showing KBR America had overcharged for deliveries to US forces in Iraq. ..
The paper said the awarding of the contracts raised questions about the Howard government's links to the Bush administration.
