Kerry's 'Believe in America' Tour Hits Las Vegas
(Aug. 11) -- Kerry's campaign stop in Las Vegas began Tuesday with a midday visit to a valley middle school. Tuesday evening, the Senator spoke to a packed house at the Thomas and Mack Center where he outlined his plans if he's elected president.
He touched on a variety of issues, including education, the situation in Iraq, and America's fight against terrorists. "To win a war on terror, you've gotta know who they are, where they are, what they're planning, and you've gotta be able to go get 'em before they get us."
Senator Kerry drew applause from the crowd when he said Yucca Mountain would not happen "on his watch."
Wednesday morning, Kerry spoke to more than 200 seniors in Henderson. He focused on issues important to them.He talked about the importance of health care. Kerry says he wants to lower the cost of Medicare. In addition he says part of the solution would be to allow Americans to import lower priced drugs from Canada. Kerry also said patent laws need to be enforced so more companies can produce generic drugs.

(Aug. 11) -- President Bush campaigned in Phoenix Wednesday night and Thursday, he'll be here in Las Vegas. It will be his first visit to our city this year.
The President is scheduled to speak to a private gathering at the Carpenters Union Training Center. The event is not open to the public.
