US soldier dies after Afghan attack
A US soldier died overnight of injuries received after fighting in Afghanistan's southeastern Paktika province, where at least 25 people were killed at the weekend in battles with hundreds of suspected Taliban, the US military said.

“A Special Operations Service member died as a result of injuries received during operations in the vicinity of Urgon, in Paktika province, Afghanistan yesterday (Wednesday),” the US military said in a statement from Central Command in Tampa, Florida.

No further details were given on what it described as a “hostile fire incident”.

1. Is this the 'slightly injured' soldier reported?
Have I mentioned that I HATE this adminstration?

BAGRAM, Afghanistan (Reuters) - A U.S. soldier was slightly wounded by a bomb while on patrol in southeastern Afghanistan, a U.S. military spokesman said on Thursday.

The device exploded near the U.S. base at Shkin in Paktika province close to the border with Pakistan on Wednesday evening, Lieutenant-Colonel Douglas Lefforge told a news briefing at the U.S. headquarters at Bagram to the north of Kabul.

Although, considering that the post above states that they are fighting 'hundreds of Taliban', it could well have been another person entirely.

Plus a few dozen more they might decide to tell us about over the next few weeks...or not.

3. The Pentagon reported that his Flintstone bandaid fell off
and he bled to death.

<sarcasm off>
