British PM summoned to testify as Iraq inquiry takes on surreal twist

LONDON (AFP) - British Prime Minister Tony Blair (news - web sites) and Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon were ordered to testify next week before an inquiry into the presumed suicide of an arms expert at the centre of claims Britain embellished its case for war on Iraq (news - web sites).

*** In a bizarre twist, the inquiry heard Thursday that scientist David Kelly had told a government official of probably being "found dead in the woods" several months before his apparent suicide in woodland. ***

----

"The implication was that if the invasion went ahead, that would make him a liar and he would have betrayed his contacts, some of whom might be killed as a direct result of his actions," David Broucher said, reading out an e-mail to a Foreign Office colleague about the meeting.

"I asked him what would happen then. He replied, in a throwaway line, he would probably be found dead in the woods."

1. Unbelievable, isn't it? "You'll find me dead in the woods...."
The Guardian spin on it is that this is a man who understood the internal workings of the dark forces of the UK / US government, rather than the expectation that the Iraqis would get him.

This is just one more piece of evidence that this man was taken out of circulation.

Unbe-fucking-lievable.

I presume that if the people who killed him knew about this remark they'd have found another way to bump him off to avoid further suspicion.
