Planes Intercepted Near Bush's Air Space
SEATTLE -- Two small planes that ventured into a 10-mile restricted air space around President Bush were intercepted by his military escorts Friday as the president made his way to a private fund-raiser.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus in Seattle said both planes were Cessnas with pilots who apparently were not aware of the restriction.

1. I imagine it scared the shit out of them!
"bush's air space"...campaigning with our tax dollars and the media says not a peep!

A woman from Oregon said on the Mike Malloy Show that the police chief was going to send the bill to Washington D.C. for the security detail for his creepy visit!

2. Chimpy's bill should be paid for by the RNC!
Why should his ass-holiness' presence be paid for by all of us hard-working taxpayers who despise him?

10. My husband works downtown in Seattle
and he says that for days he saw teams patrolling and scouting that are NEVER usually there, all in prep for the Head Chickenhawk's money grab.

3. So...2 small planes are quickly intercepted
as they venture into a 10 mile zone around Chimpy at a fundraiser, but the 4 9/11 planes couldn't have been intercepted quickly enough?

4. I certainly hope that you are not questioning our
military's response (or rather, the lack of it) to a couple of hijacked planes. You know how they deal with people that ask those type of questions. ;-)
I wonder the same thing, too-it took a matter of minutes to send up a couple of jets when Payne Stewart's plane went off course, but four jets? Hey, what do you want-miracles?

6. Oh! Of course not
LIHOP/MIHOP are only wacko conspiracy theories that have no basis in reality or rational though.

7. Four jets during rush hour.
When planes off course could cause a lot of trouble.

19. Took the words
right out of my mouth. Amazing isn't it that we can scramble jets to shoo away a couple of private planes from chimpy's air space but on 9/11 cannot stop an airliner from crashing into the Pentagon? This question needs to be kept out there.

14. What a good, good point.
Keep making it.

Maybe someday, somebody with the power to impeach will pay attention.

Do we still have a Congress?

8. "Vultures no Intercepted Near Bush's Air Space"
It's normal that vultures fly trying to follow Bush. Everywhere the president goes, there is dead meat.

16. Now THAT one, I like....
"Everywhere the president goes, there is dead meat."

Maybe we should have someone in a vulture suit follow him around wherever he appears.

13. "Bush's Air Space"?!?!?!
President Bush doesn't own the air. Really bad headline that. Second problem is that technically such airspace is called "prohibited" airspace, to be more precise, but that's a minor nit. Third problem is that the U.S. Government (Secret Service, specifically) often fails to give timely notice to the FAA, which then notifies pilots during pre-flight briefings. It can take many hours for pilots to get the word. Fourth problem is that these presidential prohibited areas are still way too big.

If anyone wants to look at the "simple" (and still unofficial) summary of what pilots have to deal with in terms of "temporary" flight restrictions, see if you can comprehend the list published here. Good luck! :-)

15. Nah, the headline was accurate. It's George's air.
His land. His water. His people. To dispose of as he wills.

Didn't you get the memo?

18. I thought it meant his skull.
It seems to me that's really his "air space." (Or did they mean 'heir space'?)
