(W.VA. Elector) Robb's vote may not go to Bush
GOP mayor may use Electoral College
to lodge protest against president

South Charleston Mayor Richie Robb said today he may vote against George W. Bush in the Electoral College, even if the president carries West Virginia's popular vote.

Robb, long known as a maverick Republican, said he is considering using his position as one of the state's five Republican electors to protest what he believes are misguided policies of the current administration.

"It's not likely that I would vote for Kerry," Robb said. "But I'm looking at what my options are when it comes time to cast my vote."

(snip)

Robb, who said he might reconsider if Bush changed his foreign and domestic policy priorities, said he is researching his options under state law.

3. Yeah, just what we need, some Zell Miller
democrat as an elector. Whether or not one likes the electoral college, this aspect of it needs to be changed.

4. yes...bad precedent
People should be bound to vote for the public choice, unless it can somehow be unquestionably demonstrated that there has been voter fraud.

5. It will wake people up about the Electoral College
The electoral college served it's purpose years ago when the states didnt' acutaly vote, but the elected officals did. Or sent someone to do it for them. Now that we can keep track of the voting cross country, it's time to do away with it.

The people should elected the President. EVERY vote should count.

Areas with few electoral college votes WOULD get attention, that is for sure. Democrats or Republicans in an area that is majority of the other party, will come out and vote. NOW they feel it's a waste of time.

This guy, him being republican might cause the system to change.

I hope he does.
