Peace May Cost More Lives Than Iraq War
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20030825/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq_soldier_deaths&cid=540&ncid=1473

BAGHDAD, Iraq - When President Bush declared an end to major combat in Iraq on May 1, 138 American soldiers had died, in fighting or by accident.

Nearly four months later, the death toll has nearly doubled, making it clear that keeping the peace and rebuilding the country will cost far more American lives than winning the war.

The U.S. military reported the deaths of two more soldiers on Sunday, raising the U.S. death toll to 275. Of those, 137 occurred since May 1, including 65 American soldiers killed in combat in an escalating guerrilla war.

With the next death of an American soldier the toll from major combat and the toll post-major combat will be equal.

1. This is so sad
I'm sure all 275 of those people whose lives were lost left behind parents, siblings, spouses and children who also will be suffering the rest of their lives because of the Bushistas' greed.

2. We'll go over the balance point this week
I don't see any fresh reports, but surely by wednesday we'll be at the balance point and start slipping down the other side. I only hope the hill is steep enough to take the chimp* and all of his henchmen and women with the bastard*.

3. Orwellian headline: What peace???
Edited on Mon Aug-25-03 07:19 AM by teryang
These bullshit cliches such as this headline and "We won the war General, now how do we win the peace?" are complete lies. We didn't win the war. The war never ended. Maybe we wanted it to end after our illegal invasion and slaughter for conquest, but the Iraqis have a different idea. They intend to drive us out of their country. They are not going to stop their campaign of bombings, sabotage and killing until they succeed.

5. Notice the terms
MAJOR COMBAT being used all over the place, not just in this article -- this is a ROVE command line that's been sent out everywhere and is being used as commanded since BUSH was told to say it..

Here's where the White House was practicing revisionism on past pages to update this rove command --
