U.S. checking possibility of pumping oil from northern Iraq to Haifa, via
The United States has asked Israel to check the
possibility of pumping oil from Iraq to the oil
refineries in Haifa. The request came in a
telegram last week from a senior Pentagon official
to a top Foreign Ministry official in Jerusalem.

The Prime Minister's Office,
which views the pipeline to
Haifa as a "bonus" the U.S.
could give to Israel in return
for its unequivocal support for
the American-led campaign in
Iraq, had asked the Americans
for the official telegram.

The new pipeline would take oil

from the Kirkuk area, where some 40 percent of
Iraqi oil is produced, and transport it via
Mosul, and then across Jordan to Israel. The
U.S. telegram included a request for a cost
estimate for repairing the Mosul-Haifa pipeline
that was in use prior to 1948. During the War
of Independence, the Iraqis stopped the flow of
oil to Haifa and the pipeline fell into
disrepair over the years.

1. Heard this last night on a talk show and was rightly appalled at the
thought. Is bush actully on the side of our massacre as a nation?

2. Jordan would never agree to this...
Plus, the pipeline would be attacked/destroyed many times over...Another sick joke by the Bush Family Evil Empire.

3. Hell no
Jordan is not going to agree to this. Will we need to invade them to make it happen, or is there some other way to strongarm them into allowing us to commit suicide across their land?

11. I was reading the other thread last night
There was lots of discussion about how establishing the pipeline would take forever because basically the existing pipeline has been left neglected since 1948? or something like that. Plus, plus, plus, tons of other reasons the pipeline would not be feasible under current regional conditions.

So I started thinking, why would they leak this story, or float this around. It is obviously to enflame passions in the region. It almost seems like they are egging other countries on, trying to start freakin WWIII. These people are freaking nuts!

13. Ah, you forgot the magic word:
"Will we need to invade them to make it happen" should be = "We will need to liberate the opressed people, and once our ground troops arrive, they will be welcomed with flowers and cheering Ira.. Jordanians!"

4. HAHAHAHA
We can't keep the pipelines in Iraq working, this pipeline will never remain operational for long. An RPG is a major disaster, bullet rounds are a minor disaster.

14. Cha ching

Nobody on this deal wants the pipeline to carry oil.

They just want to tax idiot Americans to build the damn thing before it gets shot full of holes.

Nobody thinks PNAC expected to get oil out of Iraq. That would lower oil prices. They only want to get control of the oil so nobody ELSE can sell the oil.

Ist'n the $3Billion in aid we give them each year in addition to bonds and loan guarantees bribes(I mean thanks )enough?
