"State Seeks Its Fair Share" (California getting screwed)

While the GOP tries to overthrow our government because of alleged fiscal mismanagement, it comes to light that we are carrying the whole goddamn country. The amounts are staggering:

So Cali not only gets bent over with regard to the Electoral College, but also on the monetary end. It's about time the truth be told.

I thought Republicans were against re-distributing wealth? I guess it's ok when it benefits them.

California needs its fair share of federal money to run its affairs. Why is this so damn lobsided. It's not like we don't have poor, or sick, or unemployed, or disabled, whereas then it would not matter that we helped other states. But we are going broke, and the GOP is attempting a coup as a result.

I saw a map of federal net payers states vs.
federal net payies overlayed with the 2000
election results.

The results showed that red states are big
welfare leaches and blue states are big welfare
payers.

I'm using welfare to refer to all federal spending
programs not the type that repugs always whine about.

6. Yep, I'm here in right-wing East Tennessee and we get more

than we give. Doesn't make sense that our people support federal tax cuts since it affects Tennessee (and other net recipients) more negatively than net giver states.

I thought that the whole energy fiasco was a ruse to screw California, and it worked. Bush refused to cap the prices, even though FERC should have. This cost billions to California, while Bush's energy buddies like Ken Lay make out like bandits. Oh, .. they are bandits.

I have never understood how gas prices are the highest in the country in California. Gas is refined in N. California and trucked to Nevada where it's sold for 50 cents less per gallon than it is at gas stations in California that are only a few miles from the refinery. I paid $2.10 per gallon today for regular unleaded, and I heard some wingnut talk show host on the radio complaining that gas prices in Houston have shot up to $1.49 from $1.29. I think the oil companies are just soaking Californians, and they have been doing it for years. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

Perhaps California needs to secede.
