Texans are a puzzled and puzzling lot:

Perry's approval rating dropped to 44 percent, which ties his lowest rating since he became governor in December 2001. His previous low marks were shortly after the 2002 gubernatorial election.

Results of a separate Texas Poll released Monday found that Texans by a narrow margin (46 percent to 40 percent) oppose congressional redistricting, but they also strongly disagree (62 percent to 29 percent) with Democratic senators' leaving the state to dodge a redistricting vote. :wtf:

Craddick ... had an approval rating of 27 percent, compared with 33 percent who disapprove and 40 percent who don't know.

Thirty-five percent of Texans approve of Dewhurst, compared with 39 percent who disapprove and 26 percent who don't know.

This survey was merely of "Texas adults", not of "registered voters", and not of "likely voters".

Non-voters probably see this, with their apathetic eyes, as "politics as usual" and thus don't like it. But voters, and more importantly Dem voters, know how important this issue is, and the Albuquerque 11 are our heroes as a result. None of them rely on Republicans and non-voters for their positions and so none of them will pay a political price. Quite the opposite, actually.

Redistricting is the only issue over which the Democrats should have taken the drastic action of breaking quorum and fleeing the state. They have done the right thing.

8. Dewhurst is the one who should be concerned

He thinks he's going to be governor someday. I say he's blown his chance that anyone will think he can be fair. I sure hope those ads that MoveOn and the DNC are preparing start to run start soon. We do need to educate the voters of this state. Redistricting is at the core of all votes on anything. If you don't have anyone who represents your issues how can you expect to win on any issue. The whole point is to keep minority voting down, they want to nip the minority voter strength before it coalesces. I keep thinking of Venezuela, somehow the poor and disenfranchised there were mobilized and empowered and they tool control of their elections and country. It can be done if only the people would realize they have the power.
