Giddy Democrats Celebrate Kerry

WASHINGTON - Gleeful Democrats, some almost giddy with relief after weeks of carping within the party over their presidential campaign, on Friday trumpeted Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites)'s debate performance as vindication of his ability to take on the job of commander in chief.

It started with that fundraising letter John Kerry sent the day before yesterday. The mass-email affected me personally. Kerry stated how much he knew we were counting on him. We are, of course. He is our only hope at this point. And he delivered.

Yes, I dated Dean but then honored an arranged marraige with Kerry. But I fell in love with him last night.

That's exactly how I felt. In the beginning it looked like Bush was going to do OK but then he started repeating him self. I felt that he had to pause to figure out which one liner to use in which situation.

4. In a town-hall setting people will ask pre-approved questions

Look for a night with pre-prepared and approved lead in questions for Rove one-liners and then the right wing media will comment on how wonderfule the bush coward is in a more relaxed "down to earth" settting - too bad in reality dealing with foreign leaders it isn't always so easy.

but I do have to ask, would the press ever use the term "giddy Republicans?" Why do they always have to trivialize the Dems by making us seem like we're a bunch of middle schoolers?

Edit- I should say that I a giddy in that I expected the debate to be scripted. I loved the number of times Kerry brought up something that Bush did or didn't do, only to have bush attempt to rebut him later.
Bush without Rove is a fun thing to watch.

14. Kerry performed very well.

At times, it even resembled a debate. Sorta. Might have been more of an intelligent discussion of the issues, if he had an engaged opponent. (I half expected Bush to look at his watch, like his old man.)

Still not sure how Kerry intends to end the war, though. Or even if that's the plan ...

15. I am not surprised that Kerry did so well

I watch a doc on Kerry that aired on MSNBC a few weeks back which highlighted his activities after returning from Viet Nam--how he addressed the Senate and what not--and to me, if this man had that much courage, conviction and sense of purpose fighting for what he believed was right and true, then 30 years ago as a young man, there was no doubt in my mind that he could hogtie Bush and make him look stupid. The way in which he handled John O'Neill on the Dick Cavett show back in the 70's told me that he possesses the wit, grace and diplomacy required to be a president.

Kerry is good when he's on the hot seat... he might come off as being disconnected or aloof, but I've come to realize that that is his way--just as bush's way is to come off sounding like an idiot, because simple people love idiots like themselves with whom they can identify.
