Video shows U.S. captives still alive in Colombia
Bogota — A videotape now under study by the FBI shows three Americans captured by Colombian rebels — the first "proof of life" of the three since their plane crash-landed in rebel territory six months ago, officials said Thursday.

The three American contract workers were seized by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, after the Feb. 13 landing in southern Colombia.

A senior FBI official said the bureau had a copy of the tape but declined to provide details, saying "it is an ongoing investigation at this point."

"It shows the men alive," said a U.S. official on condition of anonymity.

Why do we get the news from the world we live in and whom the elected people we put there are supposed to ONLY represent us but 'condition of anonymity' is some how tolerated By The People?

1. The real story about this tragedy will be revealed soon.
DateLine NBC is putting together a devastating piece on this mess.
Northrup will be implicated as will the US embassy in Columbia.

Northrup Grumman was repeatedly warned not to use single engine planes
for the flights, but ignored the warning. But the worst behavior
belongs once again to our Gov'ment. The US embassy called off a
rescue attempt with the rescue in progress and the prisoners were in
sight of the rescuers...

4. Behold! The true 'cost savings' from private military operations revealed!
Edited on Fri Aug-29-03 10:22 AM by htuttle
The true 'cost savings' are that the President doesn't have to say a damned thing about it when they get killed or captured.

If these guys were Marines, do you think it would have been in the news for the last few months? Sure! 'Marines Held Hostage, Day 172'...

Since they aren't, they can just ignore them (if you are caught or captured, Mr. Phelps, the Agency will disavow any knowledge of your operations...this tape will self destruct in ....).

The cost savings aren't in actual money (they ARE NOT cheaper!).

The cost savings are in political blood money.

(edit: tense)

6. CIA--US offered $345,000 for these guys
Joe Tourist would never be worth this kind of scratch in Uncle Sam's eyes.

<clips>
The sum of $345,000 is beyond the imagination of most Colombians, who get by on just over $100 a month.

But that is the amount being offered for information on the whereabouts of three kidnapped Americans held by the FARC.
