The two candidates are dead even in a Gallup poll taken for CNN and USA Today over the weekend. According to this survey, most voters have made up their minds, with only 1% still undecided.
In the latest Newsweek poll, also conducted after the debate, Mr. Kerry has a slight lead of only two percentage points over Mr. Bush. But 6% of voters are still undecided in this reading.
Two other recent polls taken just before the debate are more reflective of Mr. Bush's standing at the time. He was up by four points in a Los Angeles Times survey and twice that in George Washington University Battleground poll.
