Texas Democrats ask for restraining order so they can go home
Edited on Fri Aug-29-03 09:15 AM by Nambe
Laredo, Texas - AP

Lawyers for eleven Texas Senate Democrats holed up in New Mexico asked a judge Thursday in Laredo, Texas, for an order that would let them head home without being arrested.

The Democrats have been in New Mexico since July 28 to boycott the Senate and block GOP backed congressional redistricting.

Thursday’s request for a temporary restraining order adds to the Democrats’ previous federal lawsuit in Laredo over the dispute.

U.S. District Judge George Kazen has asked that two other judges to join him in reviewing the matter. ---
