BREAKING: Alastair Campbell quits!
Edited on Fri Aug-29-03 09:29 AM by sweet_scotia
Alastair Campbell is to resign as the government's director of communications and strategy.
Mr Campbell's decision was announced by Downing Street shortly after 1430 BST on Friday.

No successor has been announced, while a date for Mr Campbell's departure has not been set.

He said: "It has been an enormous privilege to work so closely in opposition and in government for someone I believe history will judge as a great transforming prime minister."

Campbell's life and times Mr Campbell said his family had paid a price for his role and said his partner, Cherie Blair's aide Fiona Millar, would be leaving No 10 at the same time "in a few weeks".

snip>

"I had intended to leave last summer but as the Iraq issue developed, the prime minister asked me to stay on to oversee government communications on Iraq, and I was happy to do so."

7. TRANSFORMED INTO A LAP-DOG POODLE
Edited on Fri Aug-29-03 10:39 AM by saigon68
as Darth Vader would say his "conversion was complete".

I wonder if Poodle will now sit on his master, Bush's Lap and have his head stroked by his Corporate Masters.

4. Gotta go spend more time with the fam
Usually the last words of a scoundrel upon leaving office. History will indeed judge Tony Blair as a great transforming prime minister, Mr. Campbell. I believe what you have in mind when you say that are the children's "transformer" toys that start out as one thing, but can be manipulated into something else entirely.

5. So he believes he and his family "paid a price" for his
role in perpetuating propoganda? Well, boo-hoo, I think David Kelley and his family paid a far higher price than anything the esteemed Mr. Campbell will ever have to endure!

8. Blair is the one that needs to go!
Although, it's good to see Campbell go, Blair is the one that needs to go. Labour is going to keep hemoraging voters if Blair isn't given the boot.

11. I think they are trying to
put out the fire with this one. Hope it just fans the flames. We shall start with Tony's head, then there are a few that need to roll over here.

12. THIS IS A VERY FINE EXAMPLE OF CONTROLLING THE STORY:
THE NEWS TODAY SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABOUT WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP BLAIR GAVE YESTERDAY...INSTEAD TOP OF THE PAGE IS "ALISTAR QUITS" MEANWHILE DOWN THE PAGE IS THE STORY OF BLAIRS LYING AND DECEIT!
