W. Calls Chirac 'Jackass' - Authors
And they wonder why diplomacy is in a shambles.

President Bush privately refers to French President Jacques Chirac, who bitterly opposed Bush's Iraq policy, as "The Jackass," according to a new book.

And Bush knows how little Chirac thinks of him because U.S. intelligence eavesdrops on phone calls by Chirac at the Elysée Palace in Paris, the book says, according to The Times of London.

"The relationship between your president and ours is irreparable on the personal level," a U.S. official told a senior French military aide, according to the book, "Chirac Versus Bush — The Other War."

(snip)

* Before the bitterly divided U.N. Security Council took up Iraq in early 2003, the French entourage met in Germany's U.N. mission because it was the only unbuggable place they could find.

The White House wouldn't take any calls from the French leadership for weeks after the U.S.-led invasion

5. Well, because he is omnipotent!
He isn't insulting them, merely 'smiting' them for disobedience. If Chimpster is a leader, I am a stegosaurus.

November 2 can't get here fast enough for me. Goodbye, Mr. Chimps! (say, could we make that a meme? has a nice ring to it...) ;)

the hick bullshit arrogrance which I so despise. It just proves to me how you can have all the money, access and education can buy and continue to be the largest zuchinni fronting as a human being sitting in a room.

Americans do not like that our stature in the world is falling. For better or worse and on a very simplistic note, we want to be loved. And baby you aint gonna get love with these arrogant chickenhawks.

16. It's not only France
There was intense dislike between Canada'a Chretien and then of course Germany's Shroeder (sp?).
That's three of our supposedly best friends that he managed to piss off so badly that diplomatic relations are very badly damaged. It can only be fixed with a new president - trouble is, conservatives don't give a shit that we're dropping allies left and right. They think it only proves how right we are.

Do we really need any more evidence of Bush's self-absorption, insecurity, vindictiveness, immaturity, and MAJOr issues with Daddy? Bush needs to be in a 12-step program, not the Oval Office. How could any sane person want this case in control of our nuclear weapons?

36. I love that line
I haven't heard that phrase since I lived in Tennessee. Kerry and Edwards should use it in that neck of the woods. "Government by Hissy Fit" -- kind of says it all.

People in the South might not relate to Edwards' explanation of how inappropriate it is to use the Constitution as a political tool, i.e., the Marriage Amendment, but they certainly could relate to your phrase.

Chirac is President of the Republic not prime minister.

The President is chief of the exectuive branch in France not the PM.

20. I always knew W personally started the "hate France" campaign
I knew it as soon as I read an article about his attempt to blackmail Vincente Fox into supporting the war by saying: "A funny thing happened to France"

It was confirmed by this observation:
http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2004/09/16/tsurumi/in...

Students who challenged and embarrassed Bush in class would then become the subject of a whispering campaign by him, Tsurumi said. "In class, he couldn't challenge them. But after class, he sometimes came up to me in the hallway and started bad-mouthing those students who had challenged him. He would complain that someone was drinking too much. It was innuendo and lies. So that's how I knew, behind his smile and his smirk, that he was a very insecure, cunning and vengeful guy."

My sister-in-law is dating an exchange student from Japan. He just recently returned to America after spending about 2 ,onths back home in Tokyo, and he says that the Japanese people and government are terrified of * getting a second term. Something to do with Alan Greenspan's expected retirement in 2006.. any economic types here know what they're talking about??

41. Japan
The US is Japan's biggest trading partner and changes in the US trading policies could turn out to be pretty bad for Japan.
We are talking FX rates, US interest rates, trade restrictions and so on. Bottom line, Japan is very dependent on the US economy.

46. That's kinda what I was figuring.
but it's hard to say, since it was expressed to me sorta like this: "Toshi says that the Japanese are afraid, because the head guy at the big world bank, a Mr. Green or something, is retiring in 2006, and if Bush gets reelected, he'll name his successor. And they're afraid he'll pick an idiot like him.." hehe... My S-I-L isn't too well versed in government, but she is ardently anti-*..

Thanks for helping me translate that, sphincter.

35. Chirac is the MASTER of the IMAGE
See how he ensures that a photographer cannot resist a shot, the subtext of this one being "Hey Weecowboy, I am banging your wife!"

And this one, where weecowboy appears to be pleading with Chirac for grace and favor....

And here, where it appears for all the world that Chirac has just scolded weewee and he is pouting because of it...

I very much admire Chirac's skill at this. He has an unspoken agreement with photographers--he sets up "the good shot" and they, in exchange for these great opportunities, do not go out of their way to publish pictures of him that make him look goofy or stupid. It's politics at a most simple yet sophisticated level. And he really is a master!
